Default Guildwars chinese player

dear sir/game manager:
Here from china, let me introuduce myself first,i am one of the chinese' GW(guild wasrs) players,my name is bright_luo

As a chinese GW player, we don't know anything about Arena and the chinese agent: the 9citys' relationship. But we hope we have rights to know something about game's update information.

But why can one of the best world wide game on china be a rubbish game?
Why a one of the best game in china only have few people playing, even most of people don't know what GW is !

Why can a world famous company(the9city) break its promise whitout any scruple?

And the most facetion thing is that under the9city's eyes we china mainland won't belongs to the earth!

Now,let me explain these things, ignore the testing time,GW open to the public on march of this year, it use to be more than 150lines on askl, and more than 30lines on random area, but now ,but now all the area only have one line and most of the area have no player in that map. The Innuendo thing is that in chinese's GW there are only 5~6 team playing GvG now. why so many player left GW or change to other country's server?

When the game first face the public,the9city promise they won't delete any player's data, but it shut down the china-cnc area whitout any compellent reason on july!i think it's a world joke to whom already a NASDOQ conpany! Here a links(http://gw.replays.net/cms/News/2007-...182437951.html)

On 31/8 the Guild Wars expansion Eye of the North already open to the world, but in china we can't get any news and massage about the expansion, Even the china gw official website(www.gw.the9.com) doesn't renew the massage for a long time. As a Gw player we all very angry about that. We don't know the main reason about why the expansion can't open in china but at least we have right to know it's that open or not.Maybe chinese mainland doesn't include in the earth i guess!

"www.gw.the9.com" the official website havn't updata for more than three months, and the gw translate team is disband!

Almost no netbar(the place where there are hundreds people playing the games) you can see the GW advertisement(the situation of china is that a mmorpg want to be fashion and prosperous, the agent must take many time and money on netwar)

There is a big problem in chinese GW. If a new player want to play GW in netcafe or at home, when they down load the game and after setup, they can't join into the server, it always has "mistake code 058". I just take half and hour to fix this problem for my friend when i write this letter. This is a big reason why so many people left GW

Other bugs i don't tell anymore, but the above ones, who's fail?who is in spite of our mainland palyers emotion? It's funny that the two world famous company can't settle these problem?

whatever happens GW is still the best game on the world, yes the BEST! Chinese players whom play it still stay or had left all said it's at least as good as wow(world of warcraft)

We all prepare our money to pay for GW,most of the chinese GW players are adults and rational, and the most biggest game consumer parts ,we are social elite because of our age(between 20-30) and the internet time!

We think you Arena will give us a good reply,so we organise the players and left their signs and hope you won't disappoint the whole chinese' GW players!

Please expansion Eye of the North please link to the international line please charge the game!

We love this game deeply crazy hardly! Please please please give us the same rights!

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your precious time to read this letter, we would like you to take a moment to read this.

To start with, we are a group of GW from China, who love playing GW. But the running of GW is alarming, and we can almost foresee the sad ending of GW that it will be stopped running in China.

GW is a fascinating game and bring us enjoyment, and because of the globalization of business strategy, we, players in China, thank you so that we can also enjoy a world class online game. when comparing GW to other online games in the same period in China, GW is a big success because of its outstanding graphic quality, ease of control, etc. GW players in China do not want to let this great, great gaming experience go. The open-beta in China was "explosive". There were over 100 lines (im guessing districts) in Ascalon City. In PVP, there are more than 10 lines (district maybe) in RA. Now, these are only memories. We can say there are already a lot of people in GW if we can get 24 people/3 teams online.

There is constant waiting in RA. As time passes by, 9thcity has lost interest in GW. Players are flowing from GW to other games like <Miracle World>(trans). The shutting down of servers, deleting of all open-beta data and their attitude towards customers have made us lost all of our confidence in 9thcity.

In China. online game players do not have the power to stand up against the unjust and unfair actions took by game companies. The truth is always kept behind by them. We have no idea the reasons why 9thcity still refuse to connect to the internation server (i think it's the international district for us), and their difficulties to do so. We also have no idea whether the game data we have on the closed server still exist, as well as where the player on the South China server would be later. EoTN was not a world-wide launch, and it lowered our expectation for GW2. In China, there are many who expect a game that is relaxing and enjoyable like GW.

The unprotected invested game-time of players, the broken promises of the open-beta, and the failure to transfer from the North Server to the South are making us players angry. These kind of actions seem rare and unlikely, but are really happening in China!

In respect of Gw, we had luck and gained "Blessed by Fate", and our opinions can be brought to you and you company. Now 9thcity is no longer the boss, there is someone with larger authoritative power above them. For long the players' complains just for defending our own rights and about the mistreats by game companies in China are overlooked and ignored. Will tragedies be repeated? No, but if we do not act now, the same thing will happen in the future, and at that time we would only be more despair! We are not only fighting for the one game that we love, but also fighting for the ones that love games in the future. Maybe our power is too small, but later it will grow. We believe that this kind of confidence will be carried on.

We represent many of the GW players in this letter.

Thank you for reading this letter.

We urgently hope the following problems can be solved:

1) Open up Eye of the North, connect to international service
2) Preserve player's data, give players their legal rights
3) Players of deleted network regions be migrated to the telecom region
4) Guarantee that when Mainland China servers are shut down, they can give a reasonable explanation/solution (migration)

Thanks for Frostlight help.

Well it's nice to know ANet isn't doing any better for China than they are for the rest of the world.

I was going to quote parts of this dude's post as being classic/epic, but honestly, that whole post is amazing. Sticky?

Ok..so this seems to be a rant about a company called the 'the9city' who's apparently handling GW in China?

I'm afraid I dont quite get what the problem is.

One hell of a lame stunt to pull from Arena Net.

Didn't arena net ban users wich acounts were often accessed from different isp's?
with all the netcafe's this might have gone a bit haywire, but to shut down the chines server is ugly at least.

good luck to you, for getting your servers back :/ (Well if did understand it properly )

translate of OP as far as i got it:

As a chinese GW player, we don't know anything about Arena and the chinese agent: the 9citys' relationship. (Most likely the chinese gw server providers) But we hope we get to know the current state of our game.

How come, one of the best word wide games, has such crappy service/quality for China?
Only a few people in China play GW, and most never even heard of it!

Why would a famous company(the9city) break its promise without feeling guilty?

And the weirdest part seems to be that acording to the9city China isn't a part of the world!

Now,let me explain these things,GW went live for the public on march of this year, it use to be more than 150lines on askl, and more than 30lines on random area, but now ,but now all the chinese areas only have one line and most of the area have no player in that map. It says alot that only 5 or 6 chinese gvg teams are playing. Why would so many people leave GW or the chinese districts

[Most likely line is ment to be district]

When the game first went live for the public ,the9city promised they wouldn't delete any player's data, but they shut down the china-cnc area whitout any reason on july!
I think it's a bad joke coming from a company listed in the NASDAQ!
Here a links(http://gw.replays.net/cms/News/2007-...182437951.html)

On 31/8 the Guild Wars expansion Eye of the North was released over the world, but in china we can't get any news about the expansion, Even the china gw official website(www.gw.the9.com) didn't renew for a long time. All chinese GW players all very angry about that.
We don't know the main reason about why the expansion can't be released in china, but we should have the right to know if it will or will not release in China . It would seem that the9city's doesn't see China as a part of the world.

"www.gw.the9.com" the official website hasn't updated for more than three months, and the gw translate team is disbanded (Fired most likely)!

The GW advertisement seems to have vanished as most netbars don't show the advertisement anymore. However if a mmorpg wants to be famous in china it will have to spend money and time on the marketing of the product.

(Netbars, aka netcafe's is where often hundreds of people are playing online games)

There is a big problem with the chinese server of GW. If a new player wants to play GW, They will not be able to join the chinese servers it gives back a error code 058
It just takes half and hour to fix this problem. and it's one of the main reasons why so many people left GW

We don't even complain of the other bugs, but it certainly makes our experience of playing GW a lot worse.
It's funny that two world famous companys can't settle this problem?

Whatever happens GW is still the best game of the world, yes the BEST! Chinese players whom still play it or those that left all said it's at least as good as wow(world of warcraft)

We are willing to spend money on GW, as most of the chinese GW players are rational adults, not to mention we are one of the biggest game consumer Countrys. Most are ready for the game, we all have internet and are 20-30 years old.

We hope Arena Net will give us a good answer, so we can organise the players and stop you from letting your chinese players down.

Please schip eye of the north over to us!

Most of us love this game Alot, please please give us the same rights!

Ok, I think what he's trying to say is that 9city shut down their server in china-cnc area and deleted all of the players data. Hence so may chinese players left their home server in anger to play on other server. And his other problem is that GW:EN won't be release there for some reason.

Also, you have to pay to play GW over there as well it seem and many are willing to do that. Basically he's asking for the reason of why this is happening for him and his people and he's asking for the same right as the rest of GW players elsewhere.

I have no idea how Anet do their business in that region, or anything about the server & internet supplier. If I understand correctly, you can't play GW in china right now because there's noone to run the server?

Edit: By ANet, I mean NCSoft.

Dear Sir/Madam
Hello. Welcome for reading this letter. The content may long so it will consume a bit time of you.
We are guildwar’s players. We love this game, but the game is going to stop running.
Guildwar is a very good designed game, which takes us many funny things. The globalization in game running which makes the Chinese player can try the high-speed network game. Guildwar and other suck network games to compare, guildwar is the winner! The quality of control and screen, etc. The players are not wanna give up those precious memory.
The game in beta period was famous, in Ascalon (a game city) has been connected 100 lines. In PVP mode, also lots of clients connected. Those are the past. Nowadays, the clubs game has 34 or above teams is very much players are playing. The 9City do not hold the players. The network was closed and deleted.
We are a sheep and let the agent to kill us. We can’t anti the agent and the truth is not noticed. The promise does not realize.
We are battling in the struggling with the 9City.
Although our power is weak, we should provide the power to save the game!

Anet doesnt, period.

NcSoft however has a deal with The9 to bring GW to mainland China:

Quote:
Chinese online gaming powerhouse The9 can now add Guild Wars to its growing catalog of MMO offerings. Already the World of Warcraft host in China, The9 has reached an agreement with NCsoft to operate Guild Wars for three years on the mainland, although it doesn't specifically state if this includes the Guild Wars sequel, Factions. The9 also hosts Webzen's popular MU and will begin operating the Korean developer's Soul of the Ultimate Nation in Q4 of this year.

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/17/gu...rated-by-the9/
Looks like that deal is not for the entire GW franchise though since Factions didnt even seem to be included in the deal.

Sounds to me like this is an issue between NcSoft and The9.

Hm, this sounds more ominous though

Quote:
April 5, 2006 - NCsoft announced today it has signed The9 to launch Guild Wars in China. The three-year contract gives The9 exclusive rights to provide the MMORPG within China, including all game services. The companies have yet to announce a Chinese launch date.

"The9 has a proven record of excellence in the Chinese market as a leading online game operator," commented NCsoft CEO Tack Jin Kim. "We are confident that through the partnership, Guild Wars will receive great response from Chinese gamers and once again raise the game's status in the global market."

Guild Wars is currently available in North America, Korea, Europe, Japan, and Taiwan
The9 has exclusive rights to GW in mainland China, meaning that if The9 shuts down its GW server and stops providing GW then nobody else will be able to provide GW servers in China for another 2 years.

Thank you for taking your valuable time to read this letter. We will only take a little bit of your time.

Greetings, we are a group of Mainland China Guild Wars players, who deeply love this game (Guild Wars). But at the moment GW's situation in Mainland China is worrying, and we foresee the tragic result of GW ceasing to operate in Mainland China.

GW, it is a very outstanding game that brought us endless fun and memories. Its world-class operation enabled China's players to experience high-end online games, and we are grateful. GW is very successful compared to other contemporary online games in Mainland China - whether it is the graphics, controls, etc. Mainland China players don't want to give up this valuable gaming experience.

GW in Mainland China was very popular during the test period. Ascalon had more than 100 districts. In PVP, even the arena had over tens of districts at one time. But all this is in the past. As it is now for PVP in Mainland China, guild battles with three 24-person teams would already be considered lively. In instant battles, teams could often not be found. With the passage of time, the9city's committment to GW is failing, and players are leaving and migrating to "Miracle World" and other online games. Also, the9city suddenly closed the Mainland China network region (deletion of data), and this attitude of going back on their word has made players lost all confidence in the operator.

In Mainland China, online game players are in a weak position. Players don't have the power to contest with the operator over unfair treatment, and the truth has been hidden by the operator. We don't know the9city's intentions and difficulties in connecting to international service, whether the data is still there after the network region was closed, or what the players should do after the telecom region was shut down. In China, there are more people still out there anticipating GW's casual and fun playstyle.

The time spent in-game by players is not being protected. All the promises after the public play test turned out to be illusions, and the deleted network regions were not moved to the telecom region. All this has left the players discouraged. This kind of behaviour seemed impossible to happen, but it did happen in Mainland China! Terrible!

For GW, we have a bit of luck and are blessed by fate. We can reflect our opinions to your Company, because the9city cannot cover everything up, and there is someone above them. Time after time, when players complain about the behavior of operators in Mainland China and attempt to protect their rights, they were ignored. Do we want history to repeat itself? No, no way, if we don't try now, similar tragedies will just happen again, and we might even be more helpless in the future! We are not just fighting for our favorite game, but also for other upcoming passionate gamers. Our attempts may be feeble now, but it won't be in the future, and we hope this faith will continue.

Mainland China GW Players

[They either have a different game mechanics or something's wrong in the letter or my translation, but you get the point. And this looks like an open letter intended directly for Anet, because the local operator is making a mess and trying to cover things up. They are hopeful that because for GW, they at least have a higher power to appeal to (as opposed to local games in China).]

That's right. But if The9 can close the servers and not run the game *properly* at all, then in that case NCSoft should break the contract. And if the contract did not have this breach clause, NCSoft should simply put, fire their lawyers.

An official response from someone (even if it's just "We're looking into it") would be nice right about now. This honestly sounds serious: Deletion of data, getting errors from logging in from multiple IP addresses due to Netcafes (Ironic, since Areanet themselves are obviously supporting the use Netcafes, as seen with the foreign minipets), The9 covering up the problems, and the fact that this poor guy had to come to English forums just to get the word out that China is having problems with The9 on the whole. Come on.

(The best I could do)
We hope to resolve the following problems:
1) The opening (release?) of Eye of the North (and?) allowing international connectivity.
2) To keep players by giving players their legitimate rights and interests (IE, keeping your promises [I think])
3) The net code which prevents players to connect when migrating to different telecommunications (basically, it sounds like the Error code that prevents you from logging in at different IPs, something that their NetCafes are having problems with. I'm not actually sure about this one)
4) If the Chinese server gets shuts down, give players a reasonable argument of why it was shut down.

If someone wants to correct me go ahead, I just thought I'd try to lighten the load on the translation.
